Reclaimed Materials:
A large portion of the woods we use are reclaimed from barns or a variety of other sources. This reuse of materials helps minimize the use of virgin fibers and the wear of the product often adds to the authentic aesthetic we seek. Our Reclaimed Oak and Pine floors are an example of just that. Additionally, the strength of our floors provide an extended life that can last for over half a century.

The Mesquite Tree:
Farmers care a great deal about the health and vitality of their soil and surrounding plant life. Water is a very important part of this vitality. Unfortunately, the Mesquite tree is considered a "water hog" as it's a desert tree that gathers as much water from the soil as possible with an outrageously adaptive taproot. Many farmers prefer to cut these trees down and burn them to protect their land. Hardwood Design Co. works with many of these farmers to clear their land of so called pests and use the product to create a beautiful and strong floor. The survival tactics of the Mesquite tree create a product that is one of the most durable on the market. We're happy to provide a better product to our customers and use a product that would normally be treated as a nuisance and burned.

Efficient Engineering:
Many of our engineering techniques allow us to use a single piece of wood up to 4 types for surfacing. Applying that to a recycled core substrate keeps our products not only durable but respectful of a health Earth.
